Welcome to savethehorses.info.  This site is being newly constructed as an equine portal to give each and every participant in the horse industry the tools we all need to save Kentucky's signature industry.

Why Save The Horses Formed

Save The Horses was formed on October 20, 2009 to create a central "portal" around the unique challenges and opportunities specific to the Thoroughbred industry. We have a January 2010 deadline to save Kentucky's # 1 industry, the equine industry. The state’s horse industry is hemorrhaging rapidly and “a lot of it will be gone” by the time voters consider a constitutional amendment in November 2010. We decided to accept responsibility for our own part of the problem and to strengthen the VOICE of the Thoroughbred industry, and extend out our arms to all other breeds of horses - The Horse Industry. The purpose of banding together is to help our Kentucky Senate President David Williams and Senator Damon Thayer understand how very important their decisions are to us, so that they will listen to our needs.

"Citizens need to realize that they need their legislators to be more afraid of them, the constituents, than they are of their legislative leadership in the House and Senate."           - Dana Perino (Former White House Press Secretary to George W. Bush)

If Senate Republicans (Williams and Thayer) truly want to help the horse industry, they will approve a slots bill in January that Governor Beshear backed and the state House approved in June. It is our hope by uniting as an industry, it will only assist to safeguard our title as HORSE CAPITAL OF THE WORLD. This will enhance inbound tourism and business and strengthen the state as we prepare for our prestigious guests:  the top horses in the world, their owners, and nearly three quarters of a million fans of all breeds in the world for the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010.
